The battlefield maps of 1784 show the forest as 600 hectares, which, due to the expansion of the city, is now barely 350 hectares. The surface is characterized by gently undulating hills and shallow or deeper flats. Once upon a time, the Sóstó forest was populated by pearl-flowered oak groves and sand dunes dotted with smaller clearings. Today we can already find here Scots pine, maple-leaf plane, bird cherry, sour cherry, Canadian ironwood, white acacia, oak, maple, linden, ash, elm, poison oak, hornbeam, chervil, black walnut, szomoru; grass, noble poplar, bilberry, whipwood.
The Sóstó half The park forest with its walking paths, forest gymnastics track, playground, rain shelters, and bacon roasting places along the main road attracts thousands of people all year round.
